Family Related Topics

"Relative” is defined as a person who is related by blood or legal adoption within the third degree of consanguinity or by marriage. Third degree of consanguinity means mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, sister, brother, daughter, son, granddaughter, grandson, aunt, uncle, great aunt, great uncle, niece, nephew, grand-niece, grand-nephew, 1st cousins, 1st cousins, once removed, and 2nd cousins.

Structured Family Caregiver: No

Family Hire: No

SFC: The Medicaid member and primary caregiver must be related biologically or by marriage. 

Family Hire: Non-related, live-in caregivers are not allowed for SOURCE & CCSP.

SFC Family caregivers must live in the same home as the care recipient.

Financial

Structured Family Caregiver: No

Family Hire: Yes

Structured Family Caregiver: No, but caregivers are not eligible if they have a job or are self employed. 

Family Hire: No.

Structured Family Caregiver: No

No. Caring Hands United acts as a training and support coach and facilitates stipend payments. 

Structured Family Caregiver:  Daily stipend paid every 2 weeks

Family Hire: Paid hourly every 2 weeks

Structured Family Caregiver: No

Family Hire: Yes

Structured Family Caregiver: SFC caregivers set their own schedules.

Family Hire: FH caregivers' schedules are set by Caring Hands United staff.
